Kael’s Reluctance
Mia returned to the table with drinks for all of us, and we let out a sigh of relief as we took our first sips.
“That was crazy,” Kaiden said, shaking his head. “I can’t believe we got away.”
“We’re warriors,” Mia replied, her voice fierce and determined. “We can handle anything the universe throws at us.”
“I’m just glad we’re safe,” Kael added, taking a long sip of his drink.
“We’re not out of the woods yet,” Mia said, her expression growing serious. “I have a mission, and I’m not going to give up until it’s complete.”
“What mission is that?” Kaiden asked, leaning in.
“I want to free my home planet from the Zoraxians,” Mia replied, her voice filled with passion. “Auroria has been under their control for far too long, and I won’t rest until we’re free.”
Kael looked hesitant at this, a look of anxiety crossing his face. “That’s a tall order, Mia. The Zoraxians are a formidable enemy.”
“I know,” Mia replied, her eyes burning with determination. “But I won’t give up. I’ll do whatever it takes to free my people.”
Kaiden nodded, his expression serious. “I’ll help you, Mia. On my way back to headquarters, I’ll do whatever I can to support your cause.”
Kael looked uneasy at this, his expression anxious. “I think it’s best if we just head straight to HQ,” he said, his voice hesitant.
“Why?” Mia and Kaiden asked in unison.
Kael hesitated for a moment, his eyes flickering with some unseen emotion. “I just think it’s the best course of action,” he said.
Mia and Kaiden exchanged a look, and I could see the questions in their eyes. There was clearly something more to Kael’s reluctance, something he wasn’t telling us.
But for now, we let it go. We had bigger problems to worry about.
Together, we sat in the bustling, eclectic bar, strategizing our next move and planning for the challenges ahead. It was going to be a long, difficult journey, but we were ready for it.
