Kaiden woke up with a start, his heart pounding in his chest. He couldn’t shake the feeling of unease that had settled in his stomach. He knew he had to get back to headquarters and report on the mission, but the thought of leaving Mia and the rest of the crew behind made his heart heavy.

He got out of bed and dressed quickly, trying to be as quiet as possible so as not to wake anyone. He knew Ava, Mia, and Kael would try to stop him from leaving, but he couldn’t let that happen. He had to follow his duty and report back to headquarters.

As he made his way to the pod bay, he couldn’t shake the feeling that he was making a huge mistake. He thought about Mia’s planet and the destruction caused by the Zoraxians. He thought about Ava’s determination and passion to stop the war and save lives. He thought about Kael’s loyalty and dedication to their mission.

But he also thought about his duty to his country and his fellow soldiers. He couldn’t just ignore a direct command from headquarters. He had to find a way to balance his duty with his desire to help Mia’s planet.

As he reached the pod bay, he noticed that one of the pods was missing. Ava must have taken it, he thought with a sigh. He quickly scanned the remaining pods, searching for one that would be suitable for his journey. He finally found one that would do the job and began to power it up.

“Kaiden, what are you doing?” a voice behind him said. He turned around to see Mia standing there, her arms crossed and a frown on her face.

“I’m leaving,” Kaiden said, his voice filled with determination. “I have to report back to headquarters and follow my duty.”

“But what about us? What about my planet? You can’t just abandon us and leave us to the mercy of the Zoraxians,” Mia pleaded as a tear ran through her cheek.

“I’m not abandoning anyone,” Kaiden replied, his tone firm but his heart heavy. “I’ll come back with reinforcements and we’ll take down the Zoraxians together. But I have to report back first.”

“And what if they don’t believe you? What if they think you’re a traitor for going against orders? You could be putting yourself in danger,” Mia argued.

Kaiden hesitated, her words hitting home. He knew the risks of going against orders and the potential consequences. But he couldn’t just ignore his duty and the greater good.

“I have to try,” Kaiden said, his voice filled with emotion. “I can’t just sit back and do nothing while innocent lives are being destroyed. I have to do what’s right, even if it means putting myself in danger.”

Mia sighed, understanding the weight of Kaiden’s decision. “I’ll help you prepare for the journey,” she said, her voice filled with resolve. “We’ll make sure you have everything you need to succeed.”

As they worked to ready the pod, Kaiden couldn’t shake the feeling that would plague him during this long and difficult journey. But he knew he had to see it through, no matter the cost.
